Remap (Rehabilitation Engineering Movement Advisory Panels) is organised

into regional Panels and this is the local website of the Leicestershire & Rutland Remap Panel. 

If you, or someone you know live in this region, are disabled, and you would like our help, then you can send us a completed referral form to the address below.

     

Remap is a very special charity, working through a nationwide network of dedicated volunteers formed into panels. These inspiring people use their ingenuity and skills to help people with disabilities to achieve much-desired independence in some aspect of their lives, or to enjoy leisure opportunities previously closed to them.

 
   

Remap’s unique pieces of special equipment are tailor-made by volunteer experts and given free to the people who need them. Because, as well as being inventive and skilful, they also care about people in their local communities who have disabilities.

 

 

Our volunteers think these people matter a great deal - enough to give their time and energies for free, taking the trouble to ensure that each item they make really suits the individual person concerned and does the job it is meant to do.

 

 


 

This young man suffers from myofibrillar myopathy (severe deterioration of muscles) causing minimal movement below the neck. Very close to total paralysis. Our task was to design a custom interface to allow him to play on a Xbox & Playstation.
   

This young lady suffers from muscular dystrophy necessitating a walking aid that can support her weight using her tummy & chest.

Our appliances are made to measure specifically where 'off the shelf' solutions are not available for a clients' unique problem.

We may customise a commercial solution for a client such as the baby walker above (was specially lowered) but will not compete with commercially available equipment suppliers

If you feel you have appropriate technical or administration skills and a little spare time,  then please feel free to contact us to become part of our panels' enthusiastic team.  Most of our  are panel members are practical people typically retired mechanical/electrical/woodwork craftsmen & engineers.  More info

 We raise our own funds locally and our clients are never asked to pay for our services although a donation is always welcome from anyone.

 As we do not charge for our time and expertise every pound donated goes directly to buy materials & expenses related to the solution provided, making that pound go much further.
