Digital recorders connect to your computer using a USB lead or some plug directly into the USB socket (port). Most will come with their own software which may even have an editor included but will certainly allow you to move your files onto the computer. Having said that; the included software is not generally required, but certainly try it out.
Tip: Before you try and download your first sound file make sure it actually exists on the recorder by first playing it back on the recorder.
